People can feel apprehensive and worried about visiting a personal counsellor. These may include:
"I feel ashamed of admitting there's anything wrong"
"I don’t want to talk to a stranger"
"I might lose control of my feelings"
"I'm afraid I will look pathetic"
"What will my friends think?"
"I don’t want to be reminded of bad memories"
"I'm sure I can sort this out on my own"
"Counselling could make me worse"
"Maybe I won’t like the counsellor!"
"No-one can understand how I feel"
"Will I have to carry on seeing the counsellor for years?"
"Am I a failure if I see a counsellor?"
"What happens if I don't know what to say?"
People can often feel and think many of the above prior to coming to personal counselling, and although understandable, do not let them stop you from getting the help you need and making contact with my service.
